Thermostats

Your thermostat runs your heating and cooling, so it shouldn't depend on a cloud service. When one maker ended support for its early smart thermostats, owners lost app and remote control, though schedules kept running on the device. You set these programmable models on the thermostat itself. Each listing shows what we've checked.

Each category lists the models we've checked so far and shows the tests that matter for that kind of product.

Not listed yet

These models are not listed yet. Either we couldn't confirm they're currently sold, or the spec page was ambiguous.

  • Honeywell Home X1N (RTH11B) non-programmable: We didn't find it at a major retailer on Oct 25, 2026. (source)
  • Honeywell Home T4 Pro (TH4110U2005): Honeywell spec: WiFi: No. Sold mainly through professionals, and Home Depot lists it under another brand name, so retail availability isn't clear. (source)
  • Honeywell Home T5 7-Day Programmable (RTH7560E): Excluded: Honeywell's spec table for this listing says WiFi: Yes, which doesn't match how retailers describe it. Left off until it's clear. (source)
  • Others (Emerson/Copeland, Braeburn, AprilAire) : Not checked yet.

Notes

Before you buy: check your wiring and system type (single-stage, multistage, heat pump, or line-voltage baseboard). Line-voltage baseboard heaters need a different kind of thermostat.

Retailer listings use the trailing letters differently (e.g. RTH20B/N at Home Depot). The model family is what matters.
